Walkathon on the 'indomitable spirit of Gujaratis'

Ahmedabad: More than 2000 people today (Jan 25, 2004) participated in a 'walkathon' to mark the 'indomitable spirit of Gujaratis' on the third anniversary of the earthquake that killed nearly 700 people in the city alone.

The walk titled "Gujarat Rising", organised by Times Foundation and supported by Ganesh Housing was kicked-off by Air Marshal (South West Air Command) A R Gandhi and comprised elders, school children, NCC cadets, employees of various corporate houses, fire brigade personnel and other eminent persons.

The walk began from Parimal Garden and ended at Sardar Patel stadium in Navrangpura where bhajan and other cultural programmes mainly consisting children's events took place.
