On the occasion of the 55th Republic Day of India, US President George W Bush said America was "grateful" for India's support in the global war on terrorism and commended the contribution made by Indian-Americans to society.
"We are grateful for India's support in the global coalition against terrorism, and together we can continue to advance peace, freedom and opportunity," Bush said in a message to the Indian associations celebrating Republic Day in America.
Pledging to build a "lasting relationship" between the two countries, the President said US and India "have been committed to transforming relationships between our nations."
He also commended the contributions made by Indian-Americans to society, saying, "These proud citizens have enriched our culture through their industry and talent, and contributed to the diversity that reflects our founding ideals."
