Taj case investigators awarded President's medal Monday, January 26 2004 10:23 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
Investigators of Taj Heritage project and crucial question paper leakage were among the 16 CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) officials who were awarded President's Police Medal for distinguished service and Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day.
Joint Director-North N R Wasan was awarded President's Police Medal for his speedy probe in the controversial Taj Heritage Corridor Project in which former Chief Minister
Mayawati and some of the senior bureaucrats were named.
Superintendent of Police Harbhajan Singh, a direct CBI recruit, was awarded the President's Police Medal for his investigations and subsequent arrest of two judges in Punjab including a Sessions Judge for alleged corruption.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Y Chelladurai was also awarded the prestigious medal for his role in various economic offences in Tamil Nadu.
Deputy Inspector Generals Pankaj Kumar Singh, Praveen Sinha and Prabodh Kumar were awarded with the Police Medal for meritorious service.
While Singh and Sinha were awarded for their timely action in exposing the question paper leakage of Indian Institutes of Management and Railways group four test, Kumar
was selected for his probe in the stamp scam.
Among others selected for the Police Medal were Deputy Superintendent of Police V K C Reddy, Inspectors B L Tiwari, S P Kundan and S C Bhalla, Sub-Inspectors Balak Ram and Ram Kishan, Head Constables Rajender Singh and Keshar Singh and Constables Bhanupratap Singh and S Srinivasan.
