STAMPIT sleuths complete interrogation of Telgi Tuesday, January 27 2004 21:25 Hrs (IST) Bangalore:
The Special Investigation Team (STAMPIT) in Karnataka today (Jan 27, 2004) completed a four-day interrogation of prime accused in the multi-thousand crore fake stamp paper racket, Abdul Karim Telgi, and moved the Special Court for a narco-analysis test on him.
The Special Court had allowed STAMPIT to interrogate Telgi for four days on an application moved by the investigation agency, which submitted that interrogation is needed as the accused reportedly claimed through his former lawyer Abdul Rehman that he is ready to disclose the names of "big sharks" in the scandal.
Telgi was sent back to judicial custody by Judge of the Special Court located at Parappana Agrahara jail on the city outskirts. Telgi responded in negative when asked by the Judge if he was harassed by STAMPIT.
Meanwhile, STAMPIT has filed an application seeking to conduct a narco-analysis test on Telgi. Telgi's counsel said they would file objections to the STAMPIT application tomorrow (Jan 28).
Maharashtra's SIT had conducted a similar test on Telgi at a Bangalore hospital sometime back.
