VHP demands immediate halt to Indo-Pak dialogue Tuesday, January 27 2004 22:19 Hrs (IST) Ratlam (MP):
VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) international president Ashok Singhal and general secretary Pravin Togadia today (Jan 27, 2004) demanded immediate halt to dialogue process with Pakistan saying Islamabad has failed to stop cross-border terrorism.
The two leaders alleged at a press conference in Ratlam that India is trying to initiate talks with Pakistan because of pressures from the United States.
Togadia said Pakistan has no interest in peace talks and in continuously encouraging extremists to destabilise India and claimed that extremists are now coming through 'open routes' by Samjhauta express and Lahore bus.
To a query, he said VHP would start a signature campaign in all Parliamentary constituencies to 'accept Hindutva agenda'.
Singhal said VHP would not work for any political party, not even BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), in Lok Sabha elections.
He said the States having laws banning cow slaughter would make serious efforts to implement it properly.
