Eighty-five illegal immigrants from India, China and Vietnam on way to Western Europe have been detained in Ukraine.
The immigrants were picked up from a house in Trans-Capthan region in Ukraine's western border with Romania and Poland by the Ukrainian Security Service and border guards in a joint operation, ITAR-TASS reported today (Jan 28, 2004).
Owner of the house has been arrested while detained immigrants have been interned for identification and subsequent deportation.
Last year about 10,000 illegal immigrants were nabbed on the country's borders, according to Ukrainian security service.
Meanwhile, Russian border service has deported 14 illegal Indian immigrants form Siberan city of Krasnoyarsk yesterday (Jan 27).
According to Southern Regional Department of the Russian border service, over 20 Indian illegal immigrants are awaiting deportation orders in Rostov and Krasodar region in South Russia.
