Hurriyat constituents endorse talks with Centre Thursday, January 29 2004 18:42 Hrs (IST) Srinagar:
Constituents of the Hurriyat Conference led by Maulana Abbas Ansari today (Jan 29, 2004) endorsed the negotiations with the Centre and welcomed a step-by-step approach for resolution of the Kashmir issue, top amalgam leader Abdul Ghani Bhat said.
"We apprised the members of the Hurriyat Conference what happened in Delhi during the meetings with Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The house endorsed the talks and was happy for the step-by-step approach for resolution of the Kashmir issue," Bhat told reporters after nearly three-hour joint meeting of the executive council, working committee and general council of the organisation.
Three of its constituents - Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Jamaat-e-Islami and Peoples League - were not invited for today's meeting as they had not responded to the amalgam's invitation for discussions prior to the departure of its five-member delegation to Delhi for talks with the Centre.
