Attack on scribes: Police get names of 5 more lawyers

Ahmedabad: Police today (Jan 31, 2004) claimed to have got names of five more lawyers for their alleged involvement in beating up of media persons and damaging their equipment outside Meghaninagar court complex following suspension of a Metropolitan Magistrate who issued bailable warrants against dignitaries, including President of India.

The names of advocates who were a part of the attack on Thursday (Jan 29, 2004), were revealed by the five lawyers who were arrested yesterday (Jan 30, 2004), additional commissioner of police (sector 2) Keshav Kumar said.

These lawyers, who were arrested yesterday, were produced late last night before a magistrate under urgent charge.

"Police had got only a few hours remand, till 11.00 hrs (IST) today, and managed to extract some more names of those involved in the attack after interrogating the five," Kumar said.
