Sonia flays BJP; says it's spreading 'mayajaal'
Saturday, January 31 2004 22:22 Hrs (IST)

Digras (Maharashtra): Virtually sounding an election bugle, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today (Jan 31, 2004) lashed out at the Bharatiya Jantaa Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre for not doing anything "worthwhile" for the people during its four-and-a-half-year rule.

Addressing a rally of Banjaras, Sonia charged BJP with ignoring the welfare of women and backward class people and going on an announcement spree to offer sops to the people.

BJP was merely interested in seeking votes by spreading "mayajaal" to lure them, Sonia told a mammoth gathering.

The Congress president lauded the contribution of Banjara community in nation-building and urged them to support her party which alone cared for them.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde was also present on the occasion.
