Income Tax official arrested while accepting bribe

New Delhi: The CBI has arrested a Deputy Director of Income Tax and two others for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a person to show official favour.

Deputy Director (Investigation) Uma Shankar Dhyani, an IRS official of 1994 batch, Chartered Accountant Satya Prakash and another person were arrested for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 30 lakh from a person to settle his tax disputes, CBI sources said.

The official was arrested while allegedly accepting Rs three lakh as the first instalment of the bribe, the sources said.

Soon after the arrest of the three persons, the CBI carried out raids at their official and residential premises.
