Patna traders demand arrest of Laloo's nephew Sunday, February 1 2004 15:58 Hrs (IST) Patna:
Angry over supporters of Nagendra Rai, nephew of RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) leader Laloo Prasad Yadav injuring three persons yesterday (Feb 1, 2004) following a clash allegedly over payment of extortion money, businessmen today blocked the vital Patna-Danapur Bailey road at Razabazar area for several hours demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Local businessmen staged dharna (sit-in) and blocked the road since morning demanding immediate arrest of Rai and others for yesterday's incident, police said.
Senior police and civil officials were camping in the area with additional police force and anti-riot 'Vajra' vehicles to keep the situation under control, they said.
Three persons received gun shot injuries when supporters of Rai opened fire on agitating businessmen who also indulged in brick-batting to protest attack on a businessman Firoz by Laloo's nephew men allegedly for refusing to pay the extortion money.
The police described the situation tense but under control.
