Kashmir DIG shot dead by militants in Srinagar

Srinagar: Deputy Inspector General of Police (Crime), Kashmir, Mohammad Amin Bhat, was today (Feb 2, 2004) shot dead by militants in the compound of a mosque in Barzullah area, a senior police official said.

"Bhat was attacked by the militants using silencer-fitted pistols. He was rushed to the SMHS hospital where he died," Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Syed Javed Mujtaba Gilani said.

One Nazeer Ahmed Khan was also injured in the attack, Gilani said.
