Reports of Cong-BSP alliance 'incorrect': Mayawati
Monday, February 2 2004 13:53 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Describing as "incorrect" media reports that her party has forged a poll alliance with Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati today (Jan 2, 2004) said it was not necessary for her party to have an ally for strengthening secular forces in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

"I condemn media reports which have talked about BSP tying up an alliance with Congress. My meeting with (Congress president) Sonia Gandhi (on Saturday) was routine. But newspapers have come up with speculative stories. This is not right," she said at a press conference.
