NDA Govt ushered in a revolution in all sectors: PM
Monday, February 2 2004 15:30 Hrs (IST)

Nagercoil: Kicking off the election campaign from the Southern tip of the country, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Feb 2, 2004) said his five-year-old National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled Government had ushered in a revolution in all sectors including telecom, roads, railway, IT and air travel.

Addressing a well-attended public meeting here after the "Bhoomipooja" of the North-South corridor project at Kanyakumari, he said, "We are not focussing just on physical connectivity through road, rail and telecommunication. We are working for heart connectivity and we are succeeding from Kashmir to Kanyakumari."

"NDA Government has made tremendous improvement in the telecom sector. Telephones have been provided to almost all sections of the population. Today, even the farmers and fishermen can afford a mobile phone. Villagers and city men can now say 'hello' to each other," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said the national network of highways would be a priority. The construction of good roads in rural areas and unconnected villages would also be accorded priority.
