'Sajal's blood matches with samples from rape victim' Tuesday, February 3 2004 14:24 Hrs (IST) Ahmedabad:
Gujarat police is keenly awaiting the DNA test reports of all the four accused persons arrested in the alleged gang rape case on New Year eve, after the blood culture report of prime accused Sajal Jain given by Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) indicated that it matched with samples taken from victim's body.
A senior FSL official said that police were given the blood sample reports of Jain and that his blood group has matched with the samples taken from the rape victim, before she committed suicide.
However, neither the FSL nor police are ready to give any assurance that would "pin down" Jain until the DNA reports do not confirm this.
The FSL did conduct detailed tests on the fluid samples taken from the rape victim and also on samples of blood and semen derived from the four main accused persons in custody.
The Gujarat police are heavily dependent on the scientific findings it can derive from the 51 odd evidences gathered from the Ashok Palace Hotel where the alleged rape occurred and the car of the prime accused Sajal Jain.
Police is still on the hunt for three more persons including two persons from Ajmer, who were allegedly involved in the gang rape.
