Stamp scam: Chargesheet filed against Sharma, others

Pune: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) today (Feb 3, 2004) filed its supplementary chargesheet against the seven accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, including former Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pradeep Sawant and others.

The other accused, who were chargesheeted, include Joint Commissioner of Police Sridhar Vagal, suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police M C Mulani, Tabrez Telgi, nephew of the kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi, former Deputy Superintendent of Stamps Mumbai, Baban Tukaram Rajane and Vijay Salunkhe.

The chargesheet was filed in the special court of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

This was the fourth chargesheet (third supplementary), which was being filed against the accused in the stamp paper racket.
