Warrant against H K L Bhagat in 1984 riot case
Thursday, February 5 2004 14:10 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Delhi High Court today (Feb 5, 2004) issued bailable warrant against senior Congress leader and former Union Minister H K L Bhagat in connection with a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case.

While admitting an appeal filed by riot victim Darshan Kaur against Bhagat's acquittal, Justice R S Sodhi issued the warrant returnable on July 19.

Bhagat was acquitted by a Sessions Court on December 23, 2000, for want of evidence in the case relating to murder of petitioner Darshan Kaur's husband Ram Singh in Trilokpuri area of East Delhi in November 1984.

Darshan Kaur filed the appeal as Delhi Government did not challenge the acquittal of Bhagat in the case.
