Infiltration bid foiled; 3 ultras, 4 jawans killed Friday, February 6 2004 14:59 Hrs (IST) Jammu:
Security forces today (Feb 06, 2004) foiled a second major infiltration bid by Pakistani ultras after the declaration of Indo-Pak ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir, where three militants were killed and four jawans lost their lives in various anti-insurgency operations.
In a pre-dawn operation, Army troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) set up a cordon in Bhimbergali area in Poonch district engaging group of militants crossing into the State, sources said, adding one militant was killed in the ensuing encounter, which is still on.
This is the second major infiltration bid by Pak militants after the declaration of Indo-Pak ceasefire. Army troops killed seven militants in the same area on December 17.
Two militants were killed in Sanali top in Surankote belt last night (Feb 05, 2004), the sources said, adding two Army jawans also died on the spot during the encounter while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
One more jawan lost life in ambush in Rajouri district last night, they said.
The bullet-riddled body of one Gulam Din was also recovered in Dessa area of Doda district last night.
