Zoramthanga meets NSCN leaders in Bangkok Friday, February 6 2004 17:58 Hrs (IST) Aizawl:
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, who has been involved in the Naga peace talks, returned to New Delhi today (Feb 6, 2004) after meeting Muivah and other top NSCN-IM (National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isaac/Muivah) leaders in Bangkok.
Just after his arrival to Delhi, Zoramthanga said he met Muivah and other top NSCN leaders while he was in the Thai capital and discussed with them some problems that cropped up in the peace process.
"I hope that everything will now go smoothly and the Centre-NSCN talks will resume soon in Delhi - most likely on the political level," he said.
Zoramthanga said his main mission in Bangkok was to prepare the groundwork for the upcoming Naga negotiations.
The Mizo Chief Minister accompanied by his wife Roneihsangi had gone to the Thai capital on Tuesday (Feb 3, 2004) after holding discussions with Union Home Ministry officials who were involved in the Centre-Naga talks.
A former rebel himself and one of the architects of the historic Mizo Peace Accord signed in 1986, Zoramthanga said his role in the Naga peace talks is to create mutual trust between the Centre and the Naga rebels.
