India's problems are a gift of Cong Govts: Vajpayee Friday, February 6 2004 16:16 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
Accusing the Congress of practising "immoral" politics, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Feb 06, 2004) said that the successful running of the coalition Government has broken the main Opposition's "misconception" that the country could not be ruled without it.
He also said the problems and miseries faced by the country was a "gift" of the Congress Party and people should now get together and give BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) a complete mandate for ending all difficulties once and for all.
"The problems faced by the BJP-led Government during the past five years have been received from the successive Congress Governments that ruled the country," Vajpayee said in his address to the BJP National Council.
"Kashmir problem is a gift of Congress. We have been trying to solve it. For the first time, free and fair elections were held in that State and faith of the people in the electoral process increased. These elections changed the mindset of the entire world towards Kashmir and India," he said.
He said that his Government had taken steps for resolution of Kashmir but needed some more time and complete support of the people.
He also referred to the boundary dispute with China in Northeast and said, "I went to China and told my counterpart that let us sit and talk and resolve this matter through negotiations. The process is on."
He said BJP should focus on getting an absolute majority in the coming Lok Sabha elections so that people-friendly policies were implemented more quickly.
