Kalam congratulates Indian women's hockey team

New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam today (Feb 8, 2004) congratulated the members of the Indian women's hockey team for their spectacular victory in the fifth Asian Women Hockey Cup in New Delhi.

In a message to Indian Women Hockey Federation (IWHF) president Vidya Stokes, Kalam said the "victory is a result of hard work, determination and team spirit of all the members of the team."

The President also wished them well for 2006 World Cup at Madrid and asked Stokes to convey his message to all the members of the team, coaches and all those who were associated with the team.

India beat Japan 1-0 to lift the Asia Cup title today.
