NRI doctor wins Asian Jewel Award in London Sunday, February 8 2004 11:32 Hrs (IST) London:
An NRI (Non-Resident Indian) doctor, Dr Shiv Pande, has been conferred with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his service to society in the medical field.
Instituted by TSB-Lloyd Asian Jewel 2004, the award was conferred on Dr Pande at a gala function in Manchester last night (Feb 07, 2004).
Receiving the accolade Dr Pande said, "Britain is my home and I have received lot of affection, love, friendship and fellowship from all citizens of this country. It is my earnest desire to continue to serve them to the best of my ability in 2004 the Year of Faith in one city and beyond.
"I hope all friends will keep extending their valuable support to me as they have done so far. I have never walked alone in Liverpool."
Chairman of the Asian Jewel Awards, Khalid Darr lauded the contribution made by the Asian community, saying, "Asian men and women are injecting energy into communities, bringing new qualities to the world of business, introducing fresh thinking to the arts, fashion and modern pop culture.
"Lloyds TSB is at the forefront of recognising the benefits of a diverse and multicultural society and we are delighted that they are sponsoring the Asian Jewel Awards 2004."
Dr Pande is the Hon Secretary of the Indo British Association (N), Vice-Chairman of the Merseyside Council of Faiths and national Chairman of British International Doctors'
Association.
