Centre not serious about its promises: Hurriyat Monday, February 9 2004 22:17 Hrs (IST) Srinagar:
Upset over the tragic killing of five unarmed civilians allegedly at the hands of security forces in North Kashmir, Hurriyat Conference led by Maulana Abbas Ansari today (Feb 9, 2004) accused the Centre of not being serious about its promises.
"The incident at Chatti Bandi in Bandipora has made it clear that promises made by India are hollow. These are neither implemented nor appear serious," Hurriyat, which held talks with the Centre on January 22, said in a statement.
Condemning the killing of five unarmed civilians at the hands of security forces, Hurriyat said using them as a human shield was the worst example of cowardice and Human Rights violation.
It said Hurriyat was collecting information about the circumstances in which the five persons were killed and would inform world bodies including tribunal for war crimes about them.
