Plane flies low over PM's house; creates scare Monday, February 9 2004 19:07 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
A Punjab Government plane, carrying Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, created a security scare when it flew low over Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence this evening (Feb 9, 2004) violating the "no-fly zone" area.
The 10-seater C-90 twin engine plane flew very low at around 17:00 hours (IST) over the area which has been declared a "no-fly zone" after the 9/11 attacks in the United States, aviation sources said.
The plane was found on the radar landing at the Safdurjung Airport at 17:07 hours and immediately officials of Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Special Protection Group (SPG) and Intelligence Bureau surrounded it and detained its two pilots, C P Singh and Kapoor, for questioning, the sources said.
The plane was coming from Patiala, they said, adding the aircraft was likely to be grounded till the legal formalities were completed.
