IAS officer arrested for running call girl racket Monday, February 9 2004 22:30 Hrs (IST) Bhopal:
In a sensational swoop on flesh trade, a retired Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) officer and two women were arrested from the posh Machna colony in Bhopal for allegedly running a call girl racket by luring members from high-society families.
Additional Superintendent of Police I P Kulsrestha said S C Vaish, a Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer, who retired about a decade ago, was arrested this evening along with a woman and her daughter after Crime Branch sleuths raided his house following a tip-off.
He said an album containing photographs of several girls and some condoms were recovered from Vaish's house, which has been sealed by the police.
The trio have been arrested under Suppression of Immoral Traffic Act.
The modus operandi adopted by the accused involved agents, who used to carry albums in high-society circles and show photographs of girls to prospective customers, he said, adding that the exact number of girls engaged in the racket is yet to be ascertained.
Kulsrestha said Vaish, who had been posted as collector of five districts and member of State Planning Commission, had earlier been arrested on rape charge.
Vaish, however, claimed that he was acquitted in the alleged rape case and alleged that he has been framed in the fresh call girl racket.
