'Deshmukh helped Telgi in getting vendors licence' Tuesday, February 10 2004 19:06 Hrs (IST) Pune:
Former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had also helped the prime accused in the fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi in getting stamp vendors licence in 1994, the narco analysis report conducted on the latter has claimed.
The reports, parts of which were submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing racket to the special court in Pune yesterday (Feb 9, 2004).
The report prepared by the Forensic Science Laboratory-Bangalore alleged that Samajwadi Janata Party MLA Anil Gote and Deshmukh had helped Telgi in getting the licence.
However, his vendors' licence was cancelled in 1995 due to some allegations made against him, the report said.
The Special Investigation Team had submitted the report to the court yesterday and only parts were available for the media and several names were blanked out on the grounds that the case was of sensitive nature.
The report said Abdul Karim Telgi during the trance revealed that he started his business after he met Ram Ratan Soni in jail in 1992.
As advised by Soni, he took the vendors licence in 1994. Soni and two other persons Ashish Chakraborty and Mohammad Syed supplied him stamp papers initially, the report claimed.
The report said even after the cancellation of Telgi's licence he was able to continue the business after convincing the stamp paper officials, the report said.
