Miscreants attack Danapur jail, 2 criminals escape

Patna: In a daring attack, armed miscreants fired indiscriminately at the main entrance of Danapur jail today (Feb 13, 2004) facilitating the escape of two undertrials involved in several criminal offences, city police Superintendent Ganesh Kumar said.

Kumar said the gunmen fired when the visitors were meeting the inmates injuring a sentry.

A notorious criminal Guddu Chaudhary along with his accomplice whose name was not immediately known, managed to escape, Kumar said adding the exact number of those who escaped would be confirmed only after head-count of inmates.

Security measures were tightened in and around the jail premises after the incident and raids were on to apprehend the escapees.
