Telgi to issue legal notice to Mahesh Bhatt Friday, February 13 2004 18:46 Hrs (IST) Bangalore:
Prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scandal, Abdul Karim Telgi, has decided to issue legal notice to noted director Mahesh Bhatt seeking to restrain him from producing a film on his life, his counsel M T Nanaiah said today (Feb 13, 2004).
Nanaiah said the notice would be issued by next week. Telgi feels that the film might prejudice the people and even witnesses may speak "untruth" and implicate him, he told reporters outside a Special Court at Parappanahara Agrahara jail on the city outskirts.
Bhatt was quoted as saying in an English daily earlier this week that he has decided to do the film and reportedly met his investors, who approved the project.
Meanwhile, Special Judge A T Manoli heard arguments on an application filed by the Stamp Investigation Team (STAMPIT) seeking nod to conduct narco-analysis test on Telgi, and reserved order for February 20.
The Special Court is also slated to hear arguments on the application filed by Telgi seeking withdrawal of extra security for him inside the jail contending that it impinges on his privacy, as well as that of CBI seeking his custody for interrogation, on February 19.
In a related development, 11 accused filed an application in the Special Court seeking to make "confessional statement". The matter is coming up before the court also on February 19.
