We have not given up stand on Ayodhya: Kalyan Sunday, February 15 2004 15:06 Hrs (IST) Noida:
Less than a fortnight of his rejoining BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today (Feb 15, 2004) said the issue of Ram temple construction at Ayodhya has not been given up and it may figure in the soon-to-be-released "vision document" of the party.
"Jo yeh Ram mandir banne ka prashna hai, yeh BJP ne choda nahi hai (as far as the Ram temple construction is concerned, the party has not given up its stand)," Singh said when asked about the issues that will dominate the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Undertaking an election tour from here to his native Aligarh, he said it was unlikely that anyone would have objections in including the temple issue in the party's "vision document".
"In the document, all issues will be taken up, perhaps none should have any objection (on Ram temple) because we all want that the Ram temple should be constructed," he said.
He warned tension would persist so long as the matter is kept hanging.
Four years after his expulsion from the party, Singh merged his four-MLA (Member of Parliament) RKP (Rashtriya Kranthikari Party) with the BJP earlier this month.
Singh was the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister at the time of the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya on December six, 1992.
