Dialogue process in JK progressing well: Mufti Sunday, February 15 2004 15:48 Hrs (IST) Baramulla:
Asserting that the dialogue process initiated in Jammu and Kashmir was progressing well, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said the talks between Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and the Hurriyat was a serious effort to resolve the Kashmir problem.
"The talk process between the Deputy Prime Minister and Hurriyat is not a joke. Government is seriously trying to find a honourable solution to the issue," Sayeed told a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of Rs 1.10 crore hostel complex for students belonging to backward castes yesterday (Feb 14, 2004).
Without naming anyone, the Chief Minister however regretted that, "Some people are still unable to understand the reality."
"The discernable change in the State was primarily due to the Will of the people who wanted resolution of the problem through dialogue," Sayeed said and urged the people to stand by the coalition Government during the process of establishing peace and stability.
Expressing confidence that peace would be restored in Jammu and Kashmir, Sayeed said that the initiation of dialogue to address internal and external dimensions of the problem was a major achievement.
"Nobody ever thought of opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road but today it is no longer a dream," he said adding the Government was preparing to open the route to facilitate meeting of divided families.
Sayeed said the Government also wanted to revive the Uri-Muzaffarbad route snapped after 1947-48.
