TDP cannot be cowed down by naxalites: Naidu Sunday, February 15 2004 16:19 Hrs (IST) Vijayawada:
Alleging that Congress with the help of naxalites planned to defeat TDP (Telugu Desam Party) in the ensuing polls, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu today (Feb 15, 2004) said that the ultras' attempt to cow down his partymen would be a futile attempt.
The Chief Minister, who was participating in a "Jhanda Panduga" (flag festival) of Vijayawada city unit said, "Since Congress was aware of the fact that it would not be able to defeat TDP on its own, it has planned to have a tie-up with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and later with the support of naxalites wanted to defeat TDP."
"I believe to die once and not be cowed down by everyday threats of naxalites to my partymen and attack on BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and TDP workers at different places," he said.
Naidu said that Congress always believed in double talk, it has joined hands with TRS, which wanted to increase the Almatti dam height to provide more water to Telangana area.
On TRS demand for a separate State, he said that TDP believed in one State for the overall development, while Congress with TRS wanted to divide it.
He said that TDP had been undertaking several developmental activities in different sectors and Andhra Pradesh was considered to be first in this matter in the country, but Congress wanted to create hurdles in the developmental activities and had been promising so many things which could not be fulfilled at any time.
