There is no 'war of succession' in BJP: Joshi Monday, February 16 2004 19:29 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
Asserting that the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government's performance would be its plank in the coming Lok Sabha elections, Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi has said Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the leader and there was no "war of succession" in BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).
"L K Advani has been my senior leader. My relationship with him is very cordial. I do not think there is any war of succession in BJP. Vajpayee is there and he will be the leader," he told Karan Thapar's 'Court Martial' programme on SAB TV.
He was replying to a question that his relations with Advani were a great media interest and whether there would be a succession war after Vajpayee moved.
Asked whether he would be the future Prime Minister, Joshi said, "I see myself a future good worker of BJP".
Strongly disputing criticism that Vajpayee had raked up the Ram temple issue now when the country was in the election mode, he said that the PM's statement that the task of construction of Ram temple remained incomplete and more time was needed to resolve the issue through consensus was true.
"More time to resolve an issue amicably is not to rake up the issue," he said.
