Australia urges India, Pak to maintain momentum

Sydney: Welcoming the "successful" conclusion of Indo-Pak talks, Australia today (Feb 19, 2004) urged both the countries to maintain the momentum of the peace process.

"I warmly welcome the news that officials from India and Pakistan have successfully concluded three days of talks in Islamabad, agreeing on a roadmap for future discussions towards resolving the issues that divide them," Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said.

"Leaders in both countries have shown courage and imagination in pursuing the path of dialogue," he said, adding, "I encourage Governments in both India and Pakistan to maintain the momentum in the process."
