Chief Justice in Pak to attend SAARC law conference

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India V N Khare today (Feb 19, 2004) began his three-day visit to Pakistan during which he will attend SAARC (South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation) Law Chief Justices Conference being held at the port city of Karachi.

Justice Khare, who flew in to Amritsar yesterday (Feb 18, 2004), entered Pakistan by road through Wagah entry point and reached the historical city of Lahore, official sources said.

From Lahore, he would travel to Karachi to attend the conference and meet the Chief Justices of SAARC countries.

The Conference would deliberate on the legal developments in various countries and is expected to focus on the challenges posed by terrorism to the justice delivery system, the sources said, adding Justice Khare is likely to hold one-to-one talks with his Pakistani counter part.
