AP SIT arrests 2 more policemen in stamp paper scam

Hyderabad: Two Andhra Pradesh police officials of the rank of inspectors were today (Feb 21, 2004) arrested in connection with multi-crore fake stamp paper scam and remanded to judicial custody in Hyderabad.

A suspended police inspector Vijender Reddy, who was station house officer of Begembazar police station in 1999 and a CID inspector Janaranjan Das were arrested by State Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the scam and produced before a local court in Hyderabad.

Both were remanded to two days judicial custody.

With the arrest of these two officials, the SIT has so far taken seven policemen including an IPS officer K Narasimha Rao into custody in connection with scam.
