Yet another PDP leader shot dead in J&K

Srinagar: In the third such incident within a week, militants today (Feb 22, 2004) shot dead a block president of ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) outside a Jamia Masjid in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Unidentified militants sprayed bullets on Ghulam Nabi Baig outside the mosque around 11:55 hours (IST) at Ashmuqam, 70 km from Srinagar, they said.

Baig was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead, the sources said.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the killing of Baig, a resident of Irum colony, who was the third block president of the PDP to be killed within a week.
