No proposal of Heptullah joining BJP: Venkaiah Sunday, February 22 2004 15:58 Hrs (IST) Raipur:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu today (Feb 22, 2004) denied that there is any proposal to include Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Najma Heptullah into the ruling BJP.
"Neither there is any proposal from our side nor from her side to join BJP," Naidu told reporters at the Mana airport.
However, there is a change in the mindset of the people and people from all walk of life are joining BJP, even from the Nehru family like Varun and Maneka Gandhi have joined the party and in two days' time Lok Sabha MP Lakshman Singh's joining will be cleared, he said.
Naidu denied having knowledge of criminal track record of D P Yadav, saying Yadav had told them that there was no case pending against him rather a case is pending against his son and the law would take its own course in that case.
However, Yadav had only joined the party and he had not been offered any post, he clarified.
BJP president also said even some Congress leaders are joining BJP thinking that under the current leadership of Congress nothing would happen and it was "going in a wrong track".
There was no commitment to anyone to give ticket to contest the poll in the wake of joining BJP, but actors and cricketers are also a part of the society, Naidu said apparently indicating that some of them might be offered tickets.
