Jail superintendent Ramchandra Jaiswal said 13 inmates led by dreaded outlaw of Siwan Rajkishore Chaudhary exploded three bombs around 14.30 hrs (IST) to intimidate the inmates and security staff, in which sentry Dudhnath Sharma and two prisoners were seriously injured.
The jail sources said the prisoners used a bamboo ladder to scale the Northern wall of the prison.
Rajkishore Chaudhary, who was stated to have masterminded the escape, has dozens of cases of murder, loot, dacoity and kidnapping for ransom pending against him.
It is the second major incident of jailbreak in Bihar within a fortnight.
