BJP to launch e-campaign using modern technology
Wednesday, February 25 2004 22:29 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Taking the poll blitzkrieg to cyberspace, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will soon launch a substantial e-campaign using modern technology in a bid to highlight the achievements of Vajpayee Government.

Unveiling the campaign plan at the party office in New Delhi this evening (Feb 25, 2004), party general secretary Pramod Mahajan said this would be in addition to the traditional door-to-door campaign that would be also carried out by the party.

"Our aim is to reach out to as many of our voters as possible in the next 45 days," he said.

The message of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be propagated through telephone, television, radio, mobile telephones, e-mails and Internet.

Asked whether the party would include its partners in the campaign, he said it would be restricted only to BJP.

He also did not rule out the party using the upcoming five-day one-day international cricket matches to bolster the campaign with Pakistan, though he did not spell out how it would be done.

On the controversy in Mumbai over an obscene SMS message, he said it was definitely not by anyone from the party "for after all why should any party member send a message which is damaging to the party?"
