Cong allows Ajit Jogi join LS poll campaign Wednesday, February 25 2004 22:42 Hrs (IST) New Delhi:
Four months after his suspension from the party for allegedly trying to bring Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs ahead of Assembly elections in Chattisgarh, former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi was today (Feb 25, 2004) virtually rehabilitated by Congress high command, which allowed him to campaign in coming Lok Sabha polls.
"Jogi has sought permission of the party to campaign in the coming polls and he has been allowed to do so in Northeastern States," party spokesman Salman Khurshid told reporters in New Delhi in reply to a volley of questions.
Asked whether his suspension has been withdrawn, Khurshid said, "Whenever a decision is taken, you will come to know."
Chairman of the Disciplinary Action Committee L P Sahi said, "The matter (of suspension) is still pending before the Disciplinary Action Committee and we have not taken any decision."
In Raipur, Jogi said he has been given the responsibility by the high command to campaign for the party in the Northeast States in the Lok Sabha elections.
