Three naxalites, CRPF jawan killed in gunbattle

Sonbhadra (UP): Three naxalites and a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) jawan were killed in an encounter triggered by a landmine blast at a village, some 45 kms from Sonabhaadra, this evening, police said.

A CRPF jawan was killed and six were injured in a landmine blast set off by naxalites at Kanhora village prompting para-military personnel to retaliate.

In the ensuing gunbattle, three naxalites were killed, police said.

The incident occurred when a CRPF team was returning in a jeep after carrying out combing operations in Kanhora village to flush out naxalites.

Of the six injured CRPF jawans, the condition of one of them was stated to be critical.
