New Delhi: Observing that Pakistan is "positive" to the ongoing talks with India to iron out differences, Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that the two countries should "sacrifice their ego" for better relations and a bigger goal of peace.

"Both parties should sacrifice their ego for the sake of better relations. We have to sacrifice it for a bigger goal. And when you come to dialogue, either you convince me or I convince you. So, let us see who is a better operator," Jamali said in an interview to 'Frontline' magazine.

Asked whether the two-nation theory was still valid, he said, "I think the two-nation theory has become a one-nation theory. It was over half a century ago. And whichever nation is there, that is there today."

On apprehensions that the bureaucracy in both countries would sabotage the peace process and the recent Islamabad talks should have been at the political level, Jamali said it was Government-to-Government talks. "It is only a start. This is level-I, level-II will be at the Ministerial level, level-III will be at the chief executive level, whatever the case may be. I see no reason why people think that bureaucracy would sabotage. I don't mistrust my team."

Jamali said, "As far as we are concerned, we are positive. Even India needs peace. Nobody wants war. War is no solution to any problem. It is peace, dialogue and the convincing power, which has to make a breakthrough."
