Najma has to take her future course of action: PM
Saturday, February 28 2004 14:33 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: In the clearest hint that Rajya Sabha Chairperson Najma Heptullah is welcome to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Feb 28, 2004) said the senior Congress leader herself has to decide on her future course of action, after she showered choicest of praises on him.

"She has to decide what to do," Vajpayee told reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of a book release function when asked whether Najma was going to be inducted in BJP.

The Prime Minister's remarks came just after she showered praises on him for his "good work" and lashed out at Congress, saying the party should introspect why people speak against it.

"Praising Prime Minister's good work does not mean I am going to join BJP," she said.

Earlier, speaking at the function to release the Devanagari transcription of the book 'Tarjumanul Quran' (translated version of Quran) authored by the first Education Minister of the country Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Najma said Vajpayee was making efforts to "unite hearts" both within the country as well as with Pakistan and wished him success.

"You are doing what was not done so far. Your effort has created a good atmosphere and kindled hopes," she said addressing Vajpayee.

Noting that "God helps those who do good work," she wished if any problems cropped up in his path, they should be cleared.
