Sunday, February 29 2004 19:53 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Altogether 225 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be deployed across the country for the coming Lok Sabha polls to ensure smooth conduct of the Democratic exercise.

The State-wise deployment will be worked out in the coming fortnight, CRPF spokesman D G Mohapatra said today (Feb 29, 2004) soon after the Election Commission announced the poll schedule.

The strength of the force to be deployed has been worked out in consultation with the Election Commission.

CRPF, which is in the process of taking over the internal security duties across the country, contributes the maximum force from among Central paramilitaries for all elections.
