1 killed, 2 hurt during Muharram procession in Bihar

Darbhanga (Bihar): One person was killed and two others of the same community were injured at separate places during Muharram procession in Bihar's Darbhanga district today (Mar 2, 2004), police said.

In the first incident, a man died when the swords swung by frenzied youths in a taziya procession hit him in Behri Bazar area of Benipur block, about 30 kms from the district headquarters, police said.

In another incident, two persons were injured in a clash between members of two groups over taking out taziya procession in Habidih village of the same district, they said.

Members of the two groups of processionists pelted stones on each other over whose taziya procession would march ahead in which two persons were wounded, they said, adding police later controlled the situation.
