'Central rule in Bihar once NDA returns to power' Thursday, March 4 2004 17:33 Hrs (IST) Patna:
Mounting a scathing attack on the Congress and the Left parties for propping up the incompetent Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Government in Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president George Fernandes today (Mar 4, 2004) said the ruling alliance with a renewed mandate would do everything to bring the State under President's rule.
"Once we get a fresh mandate for another five years, the NDA will do everything to bring Bihar under President's rule to rid the state of the RJD's 14-year misrule," Fernandes said addressing a gathering after induction of the former State Chief Minister, Jagannath Mishra, into the JD-U.
The NDA had promised the people of Bihar that it would help them get rid of the Laloo-Rabri regime. "We still stand by it," he said accusing the Congress and the Left parties of having stalled the NDA move.
But for the Congress and the Left parties, Bihar would have heaved a sigh of relief. The NDA, with a renewed mandate, would ensure that the resolution (to impose President's rule) is carried in both Houses of Parliament, Fernandes said.
