Cong not averse to alliance with BSP or SP: Sonia
Thursday, March 4 2004 12:35 Hrs (IST)

Mandi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi said today (Mar 4, 2004) her party is not averse to having an alliance with BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) or Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha polls but prepared to go it alone if no alliance can be struck.

She was replying to reporters' questions before beginning her road show on its second day in Himachal Pradesh.

Referring to the Bharat Uday yatra of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani she said, "There is nothing new in his yatra. It only proved that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is afraid of a woman."

She said that her campaign tour had evoked overwhelming response and she was accorded a very warm welcome at all places.

On her way to Hamirpur and Una districts later she stopped at Sundernagar, Bhamla and Jahu to interact with the local people.
