Tuesday, March 9 2004 22:27 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Bhutanese Army has launched a large-scale combing operation in its dense forests to flush out remnants of insurgents groups like ULFA, NDFB and KLO, 30 camps of which were smashed and destroyed in military action in December last.

"The Royal Bhutan Army is carrying out combing operations in the dense forests to ensure that our country is freed from the insurgent groups," Bhutanese Home Secretary Dasho Penden Wangchuk said.

Wangchuk, accompanied by Bhutan's Ambassador Lyonpo Dago Tshering, earlier had wide-ranging discussions with Union Home Secretary Anil Baijal on issues related to flushing out of militants as also training of Bhutanese police officers in India.
