IIM fee: PIL seeks undertaking of non-interference
Wednesday, March 10 2004 14:14 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: An application was filed in the Supreme Court today (Mar 10, 2003) seeking recording of Central Government's undertaking that IIM (Indian Institute of Management) fee reduction would not lead to its interference with the autonomy of these institutions as well as shortage of funds for them.

The application filed by the petitioners, who had challenged the February 4 decision of the Government, said the Supreme Court while disposing of the PIL (Public Interest Litigation) did not record the undertaking.

The application is likely to be listed before a bench headed by the Chief Justice of India on Friday (Mar 12).
