Vajpayee repeating Nehru's blunder: Togadia
Wednesday, March 10 2004 18:01 Hrs (IST)

Jaipur: Alleging that India's holding talks with Pakistan amounted to "surrendering to the jihadis", the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today (March 10, 2004) accused Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee of committing the same "blunder" of trusting Islamabad's intentions as Jawaharlal Nehru had done by putting faith in China in the Fifties.

"By holding talks with Pakistan, the Prime Minister is repeating the same blunder committed by Jawaharlal Nehru by putting faith in friendship with China in 1950s," VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia told reporters.

Pakistan is yet to show sincerity in its intentions as it had not handed over Mumbai blasts accused Dawood Ibrahim and the hijacker of the Indian Airlines plane Azhar Mahmood still moves freely in the neighbouring country, he said.

Asked to comment on the India's cricket tour of Pakistan, Togadia said, "Security of the country was more important than sport."

Seeking to equate talks with Pakistan to surrendering the country to iehadis, Togadia said the Indian security forces were demoralised by this move.

Expressing resentment against lodging cases of Human Rights violation against security forces personnel, he said by doing so the people who were protecting the nation were being humiliated.

Demanding releasing of a full list of security personnel facing cases of Human Rights violation for killing terrorists, he said all such cases should be immediately withdrawn.

VHP has decided to field a team of lawyers to fight such cases in High Courts and Supreme Court free of charge, he said.
